Microdermabrasion is a machine-based exfoliating treatment that utilizes diamond-tipped devices to gently polish away dead skin cells from the outer layer of the epidermis (skin’s surface). This process effectively stimulates cell metabolism and blood circulation. The benefits include addressing sun damage, pigmentation issues, open and closed comedones, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and rough-textured skin.

PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR MICRODERMABRASION TREATMENT

  1. Medications: Cease the use of certain medications like aspirin-based medicines, Retin-A, Renova, Differin, or glycolic acid products at least a week before your scheduled treatment.

  2. Sun Exposure: Refrain from sun exposure activities such as sunbathing, using tanning creams or sprays for at least a week before your session. When outdoors, ensure to apply sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30.

  3. Hair Removal: Avoid waxing, tweezing, or using depilatory products on the areas to be treated for a week beforehand. If you typically shave your face, it’s best to wait a few days to prevent irritation to your skin.

  4. Irritants: Steer clear of any products that could potentially irritate the skin, including those containing hydroquinone, bleaching creams, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, or astringents for a minimum of two weeks leading up to your appointment.

  5. Other Procedures: Do not undergo procedures such as laser hair removal, laser skin rejuvenation, electrolysis, botox, or dermal fillers for a period of two to three weeks prior to your microdermabrasion treatment.

  6. Caffeine Intake: Avoid consuming caffeine within 48 hours before your appointment.

Post-Microderm Aftercare Guidelines

For optimal healing and results following your microdermabrasion treatment, adhere to these instructions:

  1. Hydrate: Apply a nourishing moisturizer twice daily to prevent dryness and peeling.
  2. Shield from the Sun: Safeguard your skin by applying sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher whenever you venture outdoors, regardless of the weather.
  3. Minimize Sun Exposure: Refrain from direct sun exposure during the initial 24 hours post-treatment.
  4. Limit Physical Exertion: Avoid rigorous physical activities for the first day after your session.
  5. Steer Clear of Hair Removal: Refrain from waxing, tweezing, or using depilatories on treated areas for at least one week post-treatment.
  6. Resist the Urge to Scratch: Avoid scratching or picking at the treated skin to prevent potential hyperpigmentation.
